hmm... i don't really like this pic... i really struggled with it and didn't get it right... it doesn't look anything like i had in my head :/ the composition makes no sense, i'm not sure about the colors and the dark is too dark...it is neither abstract nor realistic...i give up on this... but for documentation sake i'm uploading it... i enlarged the characters cause i like them ,but they are too small... XDD oh well never mind better pics will come and i will paint more landscapes from photos to get a better feel for them

I don't see a problem with the darkness - when it's as bright as that, and late in the day so that the light's at that angle, shadows and dark areas start to look *really* dark. So, the shade is about right. The only problem I have is that the guy smoking doesn't seem to be in light or shadow, or have the light behind him. He's exempt from the rules of lighting of the rest of the picture. Overall, I really like this piece. The colors are vibrant, without being outside of the realm of potential reality.
